Colouring Our World

Colour Our World

The students are very familiar with food colouring and how we use it to change things such as the water in our water centre, icing for cupcakes and so forth.  They love colour and painting as well so our ECE student teacher Ms. Bryer thought it would be a great activity to have students experiment with food colouring, coffee filters and eye droppers.  Besides being a great way to work on fine motor skills developing a "pinching grasp", it was a great activity to explore colour mixing as well.

We are always interested in the process that children use in their design of their creations.  For some, the process is quick and easy and they are done in a few minutes ready to move on to the next activity. For others, it is a very slow and deliberate process, where each drop is placed in a meaningful way.
